Today’s commercial lawn care industry is dated and processes and equipment for lawn care are very labor intensive. Therefore, companies active in this market face challenges with very high labor rotation (especially in countries with winter) and it is hard to keep quality consistent. There is a need for system change in how teams work with landscaping. An operator on a ride-on is expensive both in labor and equipment. Over-capacity is often needed due to weather situations (such as rain) when ride-ons should not be operated. Labor intensity is high and working conditions usually not good.

Ride-ons are noisy and with pollution rates reaching all-time high levels (lawn care services account for 5% of the total pollution in the U.S.), many municipalities are committed to switching to an environmentally sustainable machine park without fossil fuel. Additionally, users such as business complexes, hotels, and golf courses are seeking quiet solutions to solve noise-related issues.
ARE HEAVY AND ENERGY INEFFICIENT
Ride-ons require a massive amount of energy to mow and any maintenance of machinery requires educated staff. Additionally, overcapacity is needed to handle the problems with rain and wet surfaces that are desired to be avoided.
This leads to the question: WHY HAVEN’T THE STATIONARY ROBOTS BEEN WIDELY ADAPTED IN PUBLIC AREAS YET?
Well, key inhibitors for commercially viable robotic lawn mowers include the fact that the robots need a power grid connection, a 24/7 110/240V installation. Consequently, costly new high current power lines need to be installed and connected to safe power outlets in public parks, etc. Additionally, a single lawn surface area with a stationary robot mower limits the total mowing capacity to up to 5,000 m2. Finally, in many areas, there is vandalism and theft of the robots during evenings and night time.
RLCS set out to solve the problems of a dated industry, while still finding a way to bypass the above-mentioned key inhibitors. We did so by inventing a system that is NOT dependent on a power grid connection and by enabling our robots to mow multiple surfaces, these identical but modified mowers can cover up to 28,000 m2, compared to the 5,000 m2 covered by a stationary mower. Lastly, by collecting the lawn mowers at the end of the day, the risk for theft and vandalism is minimized.
